Originally my client wanted the treads stripped back to the wood but due to the age and the amount of nails used on the stairs over the years this was not possible, so I came up with the idea of stripping the decorative wood on the edge of the staircase, I also stripped and oiled the cast iron spindle stay to bring out the original features of the staircase.
